CCTV Scandal in Jalaun Police Control Room: Constable Suspended After Inappropriate On-Duty Conduct, Female Trainee Under Investigation
A Jalaun Police Station control room incident led to the suspension of constable Arvind Patel after CCTV footage allegedly showed inappropriate conduct with a female trainee constable during night duty. Authorities have ordered a departmental inquiry while stressing strict discipline within the police force and initiating action against the trainee officer.
The suspended constable, Arvind Patel, a 2018-batch recruit originally from Prayagraj, was assigned clerical duties as a police clerk at the Orai Police Station. He was on night duty on Wednesday when the incident reportedly occurred inside the control room while he was working on a computer.
According to official accounts, a female trainee constable arrived in civilian clothing and entered the control room. CCTV footage allegedly shows her approaching Arvind Patel from behind while he was seated on a chair and engaging in inappropriate physical contact. The footage further indicates that Patel attempted to stand up and move away from her.
Despite his attempt to distance himself, the female trainee constable is seen continuing the behavior and briefly restraining him from leaving the area. As Patel attempted to resume his clerical work and handle official registers and files, she reportedly repeated the same conduct. At one point, she is seen sitting on his chair in the control room.
The situation escalated when she appeared to notice movement or someone approaching outside the room, prompting her to move toward the door. When no one was found outside, she returned to the control room and again approached Patel, who was seen organizing official files at the time.
Following the emergence of the CCTV footage, senior police officials reviewed the incident, triggering immediate administrative action. Superintendent of Police Vinay Kumar Singh ordered a preliminary inquiry and subsequently suspended Arvind Patel. A departmental investigation has also been initiated against the female trainee constable, with strict action expected depending on the findings.
The Superintendent of Police stated that discipline within the police force remains paramount and that any misconduct or breach of conduct during duty hours will be dealt with severely. He further confirmed that action against the trainee constable will be based on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
In a separate incident from Kanpur, a female constable named Mandakini helped reunite an eight-year-old deaf and mute girl with her mother. Upon seeing her mother, the child reportedly became visibly joyful and immediately embraced her. The emotional moment deeply moved Constable Mandakini, who was seen in tears witnessing the reunion.
The contrasting incidents have drawn attention to both disciplinary enforcement within the police force and the human side of police duties, highlighting the range of situations personnel are involved in while on duty.
